The average October precip. for Ipswich is currently 1.60. October ranks 7th for amounts of precip. during a year. In looking through my records I did find that most killing frosts occur in October but they do happen at times in September. I asked the people at the Aberdeen Weather Service what constitutes a killing frost and they said that any temperature that drops to 28 degrees and stays there a number of hours is considered a killing frost. The following are the killing frosts that I recorded in the last 47 years during...

June is our highest precipitation month at an average 3.59. It would be nice to expect this amount each June but it doesn’t happen this way as all of you know. For example, Ipswich has only received 1.33 thus far during June, 2022 which is not even half of 3.59. So where does the average of 3.59 come from? It comes from the 20 months of June out of 47 that has exceeded the average as it builds up. Last week I mentioned six months of June that had extreme rainfall. I will continue this week with five more: 2005: Abundant precip. spread out o...
June is Ipswich’s highest precip. month at an average of 3.59. The average of 3.59 is maintained because there has been many months of June that have had extreme amounts of rain. The following are some of these extreme amounts: 1975: Above normal of rainfall at 5.29 from 13 days of recorded precip.
