  • Fiddlin' Around

    -deg|Jan 12, 2022

The second 2022 federal holiday is rapidly approaching. And that would indeed be Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I am assuming that our office will be open, but it is indeed a holiday for some schools and offices as well. That Monday, January 17 will be the second January 2022 holiday, because New Year's Day was obviously the first holiday of the New Year and can be easy to overlook for that very reason, especially since it was a Saturday! There won't be any mail on January 17 from the Post Office. So if you are intending to send us written...

  • Girls get win at home

    -deg|Jan 12, 2022

The Ipswich girls basketball team got back into the win column with their make-up game win over Langford on Monday in the Tiger Den. And their 42-36 victory was indeed a Lake Region Conference affair. Langford had trailed by 10 points 35-25, thanks to a Katie Bierman basket earlier in the final quarter. But the visitors would begin a full-court pressure defense to narrow that deficit to one possession, believe it or not, at 39-36. But the scoreboard clock was indeed ticking away and the Tigers...

Ipswich methodically defeated Northwestern Area 55-41 in a boys' high school make-up game last Saturday, Jan. 8 in the Tiger Den. The Tigers would slowly but surely build up a 20-point late lead, 55-35 thanks to a Taylor Thorson drive. But the visitors would score the final six points of the game with back-to-back treys. Ipswich had led 15-6 after a quarter and 27-15 at intermission created by a Carter Geditz basket from within the trey arc. The Wildcats weren't quite ready to board their bus...

  • Tigers battle Warner into overtime

    -deg|Jan 12, 2022

The Ipswich Tiger varsity boys were out-scored 4-3 in an overtime period versus Warner on January 6 in Warner. This boys LRC clash indeed went into overtime tied at 47-all, thanks an Ian Beyers free throw near the end of regulation. But Ipswich's lone score in the OT would prove to be a Trevor Heinz trey that briefly lifted the Tigers into a narrow 50-49 lead. However the Tigers weren't able to come away with a much needed defensive stop. Instead the Monarchs manufactured a 51-50 lead of their own which would indeed stand. That's because...
