The Edmunds and McPherson County Conservation District along with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service are planning a special Soil Health Clinic to be held Monday, January 27, 2020 starting at 2 p.m. at the Bowdle Legion Hall. The agenda includes Dan Forgey, who has been an active member of the SD Soil Health Coalition Board for several years. A benefit is planned on Saturday, Jan. 25 in the Roscoe American Legion Hall for Adam Anderson and his family. A meal will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. St. Thomas Catholic Church is planning a Mass in the Legion Hall at 4:30 p.m. that day. Just when we thought the weather was finally getting quite tranquil, it threw a curve at us with another weekend blizzard. Many areas of the state were hit harder with more snow than we acquired, but how can you actually measure snow that is blowing sideways that fast. It did create new drifts in various places due to the unusual wind directions and velocity from time to time. Kenneth LeRoy Holm was born at home on June 15, 1938 in Aberdeen. He graduated from Ipswich High School in 1956 and was recruited and offered a full scholarship to play football at SDSU. He graduated with a degree in Wildlife Conservation in 1960. He married Kathy Staver of Arispe, Iowa on May 27, 1963. They were married for 35 years, and had three children: Dana, Kenna, and David. The funeral service for Lorentina 'Tina' Schipke, 85, of Aberdeen, formerly of Roscoe, was at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen with Blair Kirkpatrick officiating. The Ipswich/Leola/Bowdle (Ipswich Area) varsity wrestling co-op attended a triangular dual mat event hosted by Miller/Highmore-Harrold in Highmore last Thursday. The Tigers split their pair of duals.
