    The Edmunds Central one-act play "A Clown's Tale" was presented in the Regional 7B competition in the Ipswich School Theatre on Jan. 22. EC was judged to be one of the plays to compete at the State One-Act Play Festival in Brookings Feb. 6-8, 2025. Four EC actors were honored for their performances: Chase Bukaske, Grace Roth, Kelsey Sowards and Kearstin Pietz.     The 2024 Ipswich Betterment Awatd was presented to Marv Seyer during the Ipswich boys basketball game on Jan. 24, 2025. The nomination letter said "Marv began his career in Ipswich in 1964. He was a teacher and coach for 30 years at Ipswich Public School, retiring in 1995. Throughout his career he helped countless kids in the classroom and in athletics."     To the Editor: Taxpayer Dollars Wasted by our City Officials If you’re not aware, our city officials for some reason find it necessary to rent a roll off dumpster for garbage. The dumpster was located South of the railroad tracks and was then relocated to the landfill due to “unauthorized dumping”. I questioned a council member about this move and was informed that the dumpster is to be utilized for items not authorized to be put in the landfill. Engler. Wentz was apprehended at Red Wing, Minn. On Wednesday he was arraigned before Judge Charles Bostock and bound over until April 30th when a preliminary hearing will be held.     The North Central Thunder basketball teams faced Herreid-Selby Area Wolverines last week. The boys hosted HSA on Jan. 23 in Eureka. The next day the NC girls played the Wolverines in Herreid on Jan. 24. HSA got the lead in the first quarter 14-9. Then NC boys took over, with 26-21 NC lead at half time.     The Faulkton Area Trojans came to Ipswich to play basketball but it wasn’t a doubleheaders. The girls played Jan. 23 and the boys played Jan. 24. The Tigers won both contests. The girls’ teams were evenly matched, with the IHS team winning 49-41. The teams were tied twice and the lead changed twice. Tristan Geditz led scoring with 11 points.     The North Central girls and boys hosted Langford Area in Eureka on Jan. 25. The Thunder teams ended the evening with wins. The NC girls led at each quarter break – 52-38 at the final buzzer.
