Several things to touch on so here goes! The weather? How about last Wednesday's power outage for several hours due to several days of that white stuff built up on power lines and trees. (A little is pretty, but a lot is pretty dangerous.) But as is usually the case some other locations had a longer outage, so it could have been worse. And it actually wasn't really all that cold yet. But still makes you wish you had a generator or two. And the weather has since turned bitterly cold at least for awhile. But February is almost half over and it...

Ipswich captured a 63-43 non-conference boys' high school basketball win over the Miller Rustlers last Thursday in the Tiger Den. The Tigers briefly spotted the Rustlers a 4-3 lead, but that would be about the extent of it. That's because the IHS scorers initiated a 10-point run for a 13-4 lead of their own. Taylor Thorson started it with a basket and Ty Kadlec contributed a trey attempt. Josh McQuarie then added a free throw and a layup in two successive possessions, followed by yet another...

"I felt that the athletes have shown a lot of improvement this...
Ipswich comfortably defeated Leola/Frederick 51-33 in LRC girls' high school basketball action last Tuesday in Leola. The hosts would need a major second-half rally, because they had trailed 17-5 after a quarter and then 29-11 at the half. The Titans were able to win the third-quarter scoring battle 14-9, but that would be too little too late. That's because Ipswich would seal its victory with a 13-8 scoring edge in the final stanza. Ipswich had established its initial double-figure lead 12-0 right out of the starting gate. Chesney Olivier...
Ipswich got good news -- Halle Heinz was suited up for a girls' basketball game and even saw some action vs. Miller here on Thursday. She was medically OKed to play, after missing two games (both won by the Tigers) following a knee injury vs. Herreid/Selby Area on January 29. But the bad news that night was that Miller emerged victorious over the Lady Tigers by a 20-point 54-34 verdict. Turnovers seemed to plague the Tigers for one thing. They would end up with 23 miscues, compared to only 11...
