I overheard an expression after the Super Bowl that this game was one for the ages. That may or may not be true, sports fans will just have to wait and see. There is certainly a youthful Kansas City quarterback who could rather quickly make people forget the name Brady. Time will tell. The fourth quarter in any sport, from elementary school on up to the pros, can certainly produce some memories for the ages. And the high school post-season wrestling and basketball drama is about to begin. When it's all said and done there will likely be some...

Ipswich hosted Langford Area for a 62-34 victory in Lake Region Conference boys' high school basketball action at the Tiger Den last Saturday. It was a battle of the big cats, the Tigers vs. the Lions and the orange and black would win it. But the hosts would gradually pull away after only edging their visitors 14-13 in the opening quarter. However the Tigers exploded for a 31-18 halftime lead. (Their first double-figure lead was a basket by Carter Geditz for a 25-15 edge.) The Tigers would go...

Ipswich hosted Wilmot for a non-conference girls' high school basketball confrontation last Thursday, Feb. 9 in the Tiger Den and the final score indicated that the Tigers were on top by two possessions - 43-37. But it wasn't all that easy. For one thing an eighth-grade phenom Addison Heinje would personally outscore Ipswich 11-3 early in the opening quarter. (Those first three Tiger points, the first points in the game, were from a basket plus foul shot opportunity for Katie Bierman.)...
The Ipswich girls made a trip south last Saturday to Sunshine Bible Academy and returned with a hard-fought 44-32 non-conference win. The score was tied three different times and the lead changed hands nine times. The Tigers had trailed 9-8 after a quarter and then faced a 20-18 halftime. But they would do a lot of things right in the second half, starting with a 37-27 lead with a quarter left to play. Ipswich would utilize a balanced scoring attack that was led by Gabby Wald's 18 points, featuring a pair of three-balls. Next was Katie Bierman...
Ipswich split a Lake Region Conference girls/boys high school basketball confrontation with Aberdeen Christian on Tuesday, Feb. 7 in Aberdeen. The Tiger girls indeed defeated their hosts 43-27, but the IHS boys were defeated 65-45. Girls first as they actually were first that evening! Defense decides a lot of LRC battles and this was true in the girls' encounter. Ipswich indeed overcame a 5-4 first-quarter deficit to out-score the Knights 21-0 in the second quarter for a 25-5 halftime lead. And the hosts would never really quite be able to...
