From the Ipswich Tribune March 8, 1928 edition Hens appreciate warm water during winter Since eggs are made up largely of water, it pays to keep plenty of clean water before hens at all times and experience has shown that the hens appreciate warm water, or at least water that is not ice cold. Electric or kerosene heaters are used by some professional poultry men, and the thermos bottle type of drinking fountain has found favor on many farms. Packing the water pail with straw, newspapers or other material will do a fairly satisfactory job of...
We were listening to the 70’s channel on the car radio and heard “Short People” on Casey Kasem. The song had been a hit in the top 10 for a few weeks. You could not even sing that song now. If you’re too young to remember the song, I’ll remind you. The first stanza lyrics say “Short people got no reason - To live.” That made us think about how things have changed. You now have to be even more politically correct regarding sports mascots' names. And I would imagine that this is true all the way from elementary school teams all the way up throug...

The percentage of basketball games at any level that are that are won by the visiting team with the game clock winding down thanks to a designed play probably isn't all that high. But Ipswich did exactly that with a 61-60 victory over its LRC arch-rival Leola-Frederick last Friday in Leola. What happened was that the hosts would only make one of two free throw tries with nine ticks on the game clock for a brief two-point 60-58 edge. But Ipswich was able to get a time out, then worked the ball to Ty Kadlec over the top of the Titan defense and...
