The 2019 Ipswich Betterment Award was presented during the boys basketball game in Ipswich on Friday, Feb. 28. This year there was a tie. Ipswich Commercial Club president Kelsey Holien presented the winners - Jake Hammrich and Marv Seyer. There were five nominees this year. IHS student Sam Grabowska will be part of the 21st Annual South Dakota Music Educators Association (SDMEA) Middle School All-State Band March 6 and 7 in Mitchell. Grabowska will play baritone in the Honor Band. There is also a Festival Band. The Honor Band will be directed by Dr. Haley Armstrong and Dr. Cassandra Bechard will direct the Festival Band. The Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Pantry will return to Edmunds County on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Edmunds County 4-H Building in Ipswich. The Food Pantry distributes free food to individuals and families in need. Distributions operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring a container to carry groceries. The annual Weather Spotter Class will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in the Roscoe Fire Hall meeting room. Dorothy Nell Pedersen, daughter of James and Lillie (Kissner) Pedersen, was born on April 12, 1934 in Faulk County, the oldest of six children. The Ipswich Lady Tigers dropped a hard-fought 60-56 two-possession outcome to Highmore-Harrold in a Region 2B bracket semifinal last Tuesday in Ipswich. Ipswich Area varsity wrestling senior Carter Heinz matched his eighth-place finish in last year's State B mat event with another eighth-place effort this past weekend in Sioux Falls.
