Local residents enjoyed the Heartland of America Band Offutt Brass concert in the Ipswich School Theatre on Monday evening, March 25. The group highlighted American music in their program, "An American Musical Journey". The brass quintet with percussion added is on a tour of area towns including Aberdeen, Mobridge and Redfield. Ipswich girls' basketball standout Kamryn Heinz has been selected to the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association's Class B All-State First Team. Heinz, an IHS senior, has worked her way up the all-state recognition ladder. As a sophomore, she was third-team all-state and as a junior a second-teamer. High School Kamryn Heinz was chosen the Subway Student Athlete of the Week. Kamryn helped lead the Ipswich Tigers basketball team to a 7th place finish at the state tournament. The numbers are there again for the Ipswich track and field program this spring, but there’s not only an impressive quantity of IHS thinclads. “There’s good quality as well,” predicts IHS head coach Todd Thorson. Ipswich obtained several placements, led by some impressive first-place performances at the Fuller Invitational high school track and field meet at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen last Tuesday.
