Ipswich Councilman Mike Hammrich said they have faced too many road blocks in their work to keep the nursing home operational in Ipswich. The challenges included the finances and staffing. He said they have worked with many people, but after looking at all the factors they can’t make the numbers work. “I worked with Avantara officials daily,” he said. William "Charley" Johnson, 86, Hosmer, died Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. William Charles Johnson, son of Albertina (Cheskey) and Alfine Johnson, was born March 15, 1936 near Bangor. He was brought up near Selby, attended rural school, and eventually earned his G.E.D. The Ipswich High School boys attended a recent invitational golf tourney in Miller, where they placed third as a team with their 279. Bennett Cassens of Faulkton Area became the overall boys medalist with his 76, leading the Trojans to the team title with their team total of 264 strokes.
