Tiger Post directors and building committee members joined Louis and Helen Thares for the groundbreaking for the Louis & Helen Thares Youth Center in Ipswich on Sunday. The center will be the new host for the Tiger Post afterschool program. Fundraising has been a success and they hope the center will be ready in the fall. Ipswich High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members attended the FBLA Spring Leadership Conference April 15-16 in Sioux Falls. At the conference students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. The Academic/Athletic Awards Night will be Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in the Ipswich School Theater. The event honors high school students for success in the classroom and in extracurricular athletic accomplishments during the 2018-19 school year. The Marcus P. Beebe Memorial Library will host its first Art Exhibition, at the Library located at 120 Main Street, Ipswich in June of 2019. Ipswich High School art students entered artwork for the Junior Duck Stamp Program annual art contest. Ipswich swept a recent high school track and field invite at Eureka on April 23. The IHS girls overwhelmed runner-up Potter County 221-99 and the Tiger boys outlasted second-place Warner 154-131. Due to less than favorable weather conditions last Saturday, a scheduled track and field meet in Gettysburg was cancelled. But that was no problem for the Ipswich contingent. Hometown golfer Ethan Gilbert posted the top varsity boys' score of the afternoon with an 82 among 29 total entrants. Grant Luikens of Potter County finished second with his 85.
