The Ipswich High School and Middle School students presented their Pops Concert on May 4 in the School Theatre. The Ipswich boys and the Faulkton girls won their respective Lake Region Conference varsity golf team titles on May 4 in Aberdeen. The Tiger boys would edge the Faulkton Area boys 238 to 254 and the Trojan girls would defeat runners-up Ipswich 280 to 373. Lake Region All-Conference girls and boys basketball teams were announced earlier this year including North Central and Ipswich selections. The Ipswich Tiger Special Olympics track team competed on Friday, May 5 in Milbank at the Northeast Area Track Meet. "The day was bright and sunny and the team had a great day!" said their teacher Dawn Graham. The team is now 11 athletes, the highest number they have had in years. Graham said the town of Milbank hosted the track meet and all of us decided it was the most organized, efficient track meet that we have ever been to! The North Central track and field athletes were busy hosting an invite, the Eureka Lions Meet on Tuesday, May 2 in Eureka. This event was swept by Ipswich, though, winning both the boys and girls divisions. The Tiger boys overwhelmed second-place Timber Lake 405 to 182 and the Tiger girls also topped runners-up Timber Lake 350 to 214. Ipswich experienced some success in difficult competition at the Howard Wood Relays last weekend in Sioux Falls. The Tigers were particularly successful in some boys Class B relay events. They were third in the medley in 3:43.57 ran by Trevor Heinz, Kyle Hettich, Turner Thorson and Maxwell Kulessa and also third in the 4x800 staffed by Turner Thorson, Ian Beyers, Casey Geditz and Maxwell Kulessa at 8:31.15.
