    High school boys and girls from across the state of South Dakota will be arriving on Monday, May 29, 2023 for Boys and Girls State. Students who completed their junior year will participate. Ipswich representatives are Hannah Beyers, Evelyn Tran and Adam Kanable. Edmunds Central representatives are Alanna Wiedrich and Grant Fischer.     Americans will celebrate Memorial Day on Monday, May 29. Local organizations will celebrate the holiday with programs. IPSWICH The Memorial Day service will be held at the Circle of Flags in the Ipswich Cemetery at 5 p.m. on May 29. ROSCOE The Roscoe Memorial Day program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Roscoe Legion Post Home. Bob Thomason of Selby, District IV Legion Commander, will be the speaker.     The Marcus P Beebe Memorial Library 2023 Summer Reading program “All Together Now” begins in June. In collaboration with the Art Show, all children can pick up a puzzle piece to decorate and then return it. The puzzle will be assembled into a large work of art to be on display for the summer.     You can get a lot of fresh air at an outdoor sports event. The problem is though that some days the air has been anything but fresh. And they even had to postpone the Class A region in Mobridge for one day because of that! That wasn't really the case for the Class B regional in Gettysburg.     Two Northern State University students received awards in the 2023 Brown County Historical Society research and writing contest. First place went to Jaeden Shaving for his paper titled "Let Me Be a Free Man: The Origins and Beliefs of the American Indian Movement." Shaving is a history major from Aberdeen.     IHS girls and boys track and field athletes qualified for the State B Track and Field Meet in Sioux Falls May 25-27 at Howard Wood Field.     Ipswich hosted a high school golf invite on Thursday, May 18. The hosts would get second in each of the girls and boys divisions, losing to the Webster boys 257 to 268.
