    The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in all the voting precincts in Edmunds County. The election polls will be open from seven a.m. to seven p.m. local time on the day of the election. Republican voters will elect the District 23 State Senator and two State Representatives.   • "Adventure begins at your library" summer program

    The Ipswich Public Library is planning their summer reading program, “Adventure Begins at your Library.” The program is designed for ages 3-12 and is FREE. ALL Programs will start at 3 p.m. and last 45 to 60 minutes. The library is challenging ALL patrons, baby thru grandparents, to read 500 books from June 2 to July 17. They will count all books checked out during the seven weeks and fill out the chart on the door of the library. Teens and adults just need to ask what their summer reading challenge is.     To the Editor: This letter is in response to the letter printed in the May 15, 2024, Ipswich Tribune by Ed Bierman. I merely wish to point out to Mr. Bierman that his analysis and application of the law in this matter is incorrect. Mr. Bierman referred to SDCL 9-9-8 and implies that the Ipswich City Council is not adhering to this particular law. He is correct in stating that the City Council has not adhered to SDCL 9-9-8. Memorial services were at 10 a.m., Tuesday May 28, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowdle, led by Pastor Janet Sandmeier.     Edmunds Central golfers competed in the Ipswich Invitational golf meet on May 16 at the Split Rock Country Club. The Edmunds Central golfers placed second at the Ipswich Invitational with a 257, behind the Ipswich boys with 250. Seth Hettick was third, followed by Harrison Beyers at fourth - 83 and 84.     The Ipswich boys and girls earned gold at the State B Track and Field Meet last week, May 23-25 in Sioux Falls. The IHS boys finished the meet in fourth place with 49 points and the girls were seventh with 31 points. Gregory won the boys division with 57 points. Burke won the girls division with 58 points.     Ipswich held a high school golf meet on May 16 at the Split Rock Country Club. Hailey Usselman finished 10th with a 123 and Mollie Simon shot a 102, which earned her fourth place. The Ipswich boys team finished first shooting a 246, which was eleven shots better than Edmunds Central with a 257. Individually, Tucker Kadlec placed 10th, Nate Bass placed sixth, Jace Konsor second and Chet Peterson took home top medalist honors with a score of 80.
