    Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Anne Hazlett announced that USDA is investing $309 million in 16 projects to improve rural electric infrastructure in 12 states. FEM Electric Association will receive a $6,032,000 grant to build 58 miles of line, improve 77 miles and make other system improvements.     Ron Parker will present a concert Sunday, June 24 at 7 p.m. in the Ipswich Bandshell. This is the first of the concerts sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Ipswich. Parker, from Aberdeen, leads worship using an eclectic mix of gospel, rock, southern gospel and pop stylings.     The Edmunds County Courthouse was the site of a hearing on Thursday, June 14, 2018, to appeal the actions of the Edmunds County Commission and Zoning Board in approving a building permit for a turkey pod southwest of Ipswich. Mary Curtis filed the appeals after a permit was approved to build the turkey operation near her home. Judge Richard Sommers presided at the hearing.     Outdoor Camp was held on Wednesday, June 13 at the Mina Lake Recreation Area. 4-H Members from Edmunds and McPherson County enjoyed the day experiencing life outdoors. Classes included fishing, cleaning and cooking fish, bird watching, furs and pelts, rock painting, and making bean bags.     Twenty Cloverbud 4-H Members from Edmunds and McPherson County enjoyed Cloverbud Camp on Wednesday, June 6th at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. Camp was based on a carnival theme. Crafts included a paper plate clown, elephant with party horn, spiral snake with undulating tongue, juggling balls, and a popcorn bucket with buttered cotton balls. Ipswich was represented by Halie Feldman in the girls' tournament at Prairie Winds Golf Course.
