The annual Mina Lake Freedom Festival is planned on Sunday, July 3, 2022. There are plenty of activities for families to enjoy. The 10th Annual Kids Fishing for Freedom begins at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the public boat launch. Fish on shore or on a boat from 10 a.m. to noon. June is our highest precipitation month at an average 3.59. It would be nice to expect this amount each June but it doesn’t happen this way as all of you know. For example, Ipswich has only received 1.33 thus far during June, 2022 which is not even half of 3.59. So where does the average of 3.59 come from? The 2022 Ipswich Trail Days Amazing Race was held on Friday, June 17 evening of Trail Days and had 20 participating teams. First place finishers were the team of Max Kulesa, Chet Peterson, Tucker Kadlec, and Rasmus Loken. Edmunds and McPherson County Conservation Districts have a new program available to assist producers with the planting of cover crops. Cover crops are valued for their benefits to soil health as they provide soil cover, living roots and diversity to a traditional cropping system. The districts are targeting low performing or problem areas for growers, specifically wet and saline acres. Edmunds County Shotgun 4-H Shooting Sports will start tonight, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ipswich Sportsmen’s Club north of Ipswich. This is only open to current 4-H members enrolled in the shotgun project area. The first class will include safety training followed by shooting. Members may shoot the shotgun of their choice.
