The Edmunds County Sheriff has been asking for donations after the County Commission agreed to allow a Police Service Dog Program. Tess, a two-year old Belgian Malinois, is now part of the Edmunds County Sheriff's Department. Tess stays with County Deputy Pete Eng. He has 20 years experience with K9 service. Tess has training in Drug Detection and Tracking. She will begin State certification in September. Sheriff Jonathan Waldner said Tess would be another tool for the Sheriff's Department....
The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs hosted a State Bridge Dedication Ceremony in June to honor U.S. Army Private First Class Cy Kaiser. The ceremony was held June 22, 2023, at the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Aberdeen. The US HWY 12 Bridge south of Lake Mina was dedicated to PFC Kaiser. The Roscoe Summer Youth Program is planning a Bike-A-Thon on Tuesday, July 18 at the Roscoe City Park. Check in from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. with riding beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be three riding routes based on the level of the rider, ages 18 and younger. Beware the riders will be on the streets of Roscoe. Registration packets can be picked up at AP Express. Kids do not need to register in advance, but it is recommended. Wayne Rissmann, age 72, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 22, 2023. The Open Horse Show and Fun Day is part of the 2023 Edmunds County Achievement Days. The activities will begin with registration starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Trail Days Arena on Wednesday, August 2. The Roscoe 12U team moved to their fourth straight win, taking their season to six wins and four losses for their regular season games.
