The Edmunds County 4-H Achievement Days Premium Sale will be held on Friday, August 5 following the Chicken BBQ. The event will be held in the arena found in the back part of the 4-H Building. The new spillway at Mina Lake couldn’t have been finished at a more opportune time. Just think how many cubic feet of water have already gone over the dam since then. Mr. Parmley would have certainly been impressed! The Dedication of the New Parmley Dam Spillway was scheduled for Saturday, July 16. But that has been rescheduled. Due to the high water level there was a “no wake zone” imposed. That has been cancelled. But many around the lake may still have docks and equipment still under water. So be respectful of them....

Wilmer Deibert will celebrate his 90th birthday on Monday, July 18. Wilmer grew up on a farm near Herreid. He moved to Ipswich in 1970 and worked for ASCS until his retirement. Fishing, woodworking, making ice cream and having coffee with his friends keep him busy. South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) recently announced the reopening of Lake Hiddenwood Recreation Area near Selby. The park had previously been closed after a flood washed out the dam and park entrance road in May of 2018. Lake Hiddenwood Recreation Area offers both day use opportunities and camping. Currently, most hiking trails and walking bridges are open, along with a picnic shelter and playground.
