  • Accident of Ipswich claims life of one

    A one-vehicle crash on Highway 45 ten miles south of Ipswich at 3:47 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022 claimed the life of a 53-year-old man. Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2013 Ford Fusion was northbound on SD Highway 45 when the vehicle rolled into the west ditch and eventually started on fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Seatbelt use has not yet been determined. The name of the only person involved is not yet being released pending notification of family members.     The Aberdeen Park and Rec hosted a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Aberdeen on Tuesday, July 19. Ipswich had four teams that competed The fifth grade girls placed first. Team members were Ashlyn Heilman, Emri Braun, Jennay Gisi, and Emery Dahlgren.   • Achievement Days Dog Show begins at 8 a.m. on August 3

    “4-H…Where Dreams Come True” is the theme for 2022 Edmunds County 4-H Achievement Days Aug. 3-5. The event begins Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. with the Dog Show. The Cat Show is at 1 p.m. The Horse Fun Day is at the Trail Days Complex starting at 4 p.m. will finish off the day. Concessions will be available all three days.   • Showmanship Challenge new this year

    This year Edmunds County Achievement Days will try out a showmanship challenge activity on Friday, August 5. The event will be held between the livestock show and the 4-H BBQ. Eligible participants are any livestock members. The Grand Champion of each breed will be the judge for this challenge in their specific breed. Participants will have 10 minutes to learn how to show the type of breed they typically do not show. After 10 minutes we will have a showmanship competition with the Champion Showman judging.
