"Splashing Into 4-H" is the slogan for the 2019 Edmunds County 4-H Achievement Days on July 31 – August 2. Activities take place at the 4-H Grounds in Ipswich. Wednesday morning starts off the three days with the Dog Show starting at 8 a.m. followed by the Cat Show. The Horse Fun Day at the Trail Days Complex starting at 4 p.m. will finish off the day. Last week a team lead Totus Tuus for Holy Cross Catholic youth. They had a treat on Friday afternoon when they had water fights. Then the Ipswich Fire Department came with extra water. Totus Tuus means "Totally Yours." Young adults lead the summer Bible camps across the diocese. The leaders use skits, activities and music to help their students grow in their understanding of their faith....
It is definitely that time of the year. We noticed a maple tree with hints of red last week. Stores are trying to sell school supplies. We've already experienced some cooler overnight low temperatures than normal, preceded by more rain over the weekend. So let's hope that this won't be a permanent trend, as nobody would really like to see one of those rare early frosts. From the Ipswich Tribune July 13, 1927 edition OLD PIONEER PASSES AWAY Boliver Amos Rogers, a resident of Ipswich for forty-four years and one of the oldest men of the city, died on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. It was a hot but fun weekend in Waterloo, Iowa at the Regional Water Ski Show Tournament. The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts were among the teams competing. The team finished fourth overall. Aberdeen skiers Abby VanLiere and Todd Thorson were awarded the female and male MVP awards. Funeral services for Leo E. Haar, 93, Aberdeen, was at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. Rev. Dr. Michael Haar and Pastor Leland Armbright officiated. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Leo died Saturday, July 13, at home in Aberdeen. Leo Emil Haar was born November 5, 1925, to Walter and Rosina (Kranzler) Haar at Java.
