    “You Won’t Get Board in 4-H” is the slogan for the 2024 Edmunds County 4-H Achievement Days on August 4-6. Mark your calendars and plan on stopping by to see the accomplishment of our youth. Activities take place at the 4-H Grounds in Ipswich. Sunday afternoon starts off the three days with the Cat Show starting at 2 p.m. at the 4-H Building. The Horse Fun Day at the Trail Complex starting at 4 p.m. will finish off the Day.   • Storybook Land theater group makes local stops

    The Storybook Land on Tour will present “A Year With Frog and Toad” August 7 and 8 on local stages. The musical will be presented in the Edmunds Central Fine Arts Gym in Roscoe on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m., sponsored by the P.A.C. They will have popsicles for all the kids. A free-will offering will be taken. The next day, Thursday, August 8, the Marcus P. Beebe Library will sponsor “A Year with Frog and Toad” at the Bandshell on Main Street in Ipswich.     The 14th Annual Hosmer Lawnmower Poker Run had a record 230 hands. Winners were Jason Ellwein, Angie Heilman and Amy Gunza.     The 2024 Edmunds County 4-H Achievement Days, “You Won’t Get BOARD in 4-H,” will kick off on Sunday, August 4 with the Cat Show. The show will start at 2 p.m. at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. Choosing of the Grand Champion Cat as well as Champion Cat Showman will take place. The Dog Show will start off the second day, Monday, August 5, starting at 8 a.m. at the 4-H Building.     Now we have another weekend to search for rummage goodies. The Ipswich Commercial Club has their annual City-Wide Rummage Sale on Saturday. If you look at the ads on page 9 of this week’s Tribune you find other places to search for treasures. We get emails with stories with a variety of topics. Today there was one with the best and worst cities for garage sales. The worst was Deerfield Beach, Florida. The best was Los Angeles, Calif. I probably won’t make it to either location. We’ll see what we can find locally....

    The Ipswich U10 girls softball team competed in a tournament in Watertown recently. The girls had a successful weekend, placing third in their division. They had a great opening day, defeating Watertown 14-3 and then Redfield 10-0. Game three on Saturday would be one of their best games of the tournament. Ipswich fell behind by eight, but they would not give up. They came back with five runs in the next inning. Both teams battled, with the Ipswich team eventually losing the battle 14-12. The...

Seventeen members were on hand with their club pigs at the Ipswich Feed and Sale Barn when the judging was started at 11:00 am., Saturday, August 30.
