The 2018 Edmunds County Achievement Days were held August 1-3 in Ipswich. The event started on Wednesday morning with the Dog Show with 19 participants. They were judged on obedience, agility, rally, and showmanship. Top showman awards will be presented at Recognition Night. The day ended with the Horse Show and Fun Day at the Trail Days Complex. The Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern Junior Legion baseball team finished 1-2 in its three outcomes at the State B Junior Legion Baseball Tournament hosted by Winner on August 3-5. Carter Heinz, 17-year-old son of Doug and Lynette Heinz, has been competing this summer in several 4-H regional rodeos. Heinz competes in the senior bull riding. The contestants have to cover an eight-second ride to receive a score. The top four contestants in their event then qualifies for the State Rodeo. Heinz did that earlier this summer in Watertown.
