    The 2022 Edmunds County Achievement Days were held August 3-5 in Ipswich. The event started on Wednesday morning with the Dog Show with five participants. They were judged on obedience, agility, rally, and showmanship. Top showman awards will be presented at Recognition Night. The Dog Show was followed by the Cat Show which had six members showing their cats. The day ended with the Horse Show and Fun Day at the Trail Days Complex.   • Council hopes to improve drainage

    After the several downpours this summer flooding in sections of Ipswich became a problem. Members of the Ipswich City Council are looking for ways to alleviate the problem in the future. A drainage study was done by Stockwell Engineers of Sioux Falls. Recommendations were made to improve the drainage in Ipswich. The extensive plan would include channel cleaning, storm sewer improvements as well as curb and gutter and street shaping.     Storm sewer project I have to apologize for not having exact numbers but the timing of the 1 ½ hour “open house” prevents accessing detailed information in time to get this letter into the Ipswich Tribune in time for publication before the City Counsel’s possible vote next Monday.     We attended a few Ipswich rummage sales, but not all. I know at least one person who quite likely did exactly that. There were 26 sales on the map, and possibly a few not on the list. We were hoping to have a little sale of our own, but had too much work that week (including the usual 4-H Achievement Days events).     The Ipswich Tigers 8th grade girls basketball team has worked hard this summer to improve their skills on the court. Coaches Kamryn Heinz and Halle Heinz have spent many hours this summer coaching and helping them improve their fundamentals and shooting.
