The Ipswich City Council met Monday, Aug. 22 and continued their discussion on the Stockwell Engineering proposal to improve the storm sewer system in town. A resolution to accept the funding for the first proposal of storm sewer improvements was examined by the council members. They had questions about some of the wording and decided to table the decision until the wording is clarified. Some council members said they would like to hear from more community members also. The weather at the Brown County Fair is somewhat legendary for its variety and that proved to be the case again. The two brief times we went there was on Thursday afternoon and again on Sunday afternoon. That day proved to be beautiful in every respect. Both Thursday and Friday saw monsoon rain. Thursday we watched a vocalist with guitar talent with Americana style. We got caught in the Thursday monsoon right after the concert was done. The South Dakota Veterinary Medical Association held its 131st Annual Meeting at the Ramkota Convention Center in Sioux Falls August 7-10. The meeting included continuing education opportunities for over 200 veterinarians and veterinary technicians, recognized outstanding accomplishments by professionals in the veterinary fields, and included the annual membership meeting. From the Ipswich Tribune January 31, 1928 edition PRESENTS LOVING CUP Lou Mikalos of the Green Lantern Café promised the 1928 football squad if they won sixty percent of their games during the season he would present them with a silver loving cup. The squad did the trick. They won all but one game and tied for championship of the Northeast Conference. Angela Mae Heinz, age 24, was born to Ed and Lorie Heinz on March 18, 1998 in Ipswich. She graduated from Ipswich High School and proceeded to further her education at South Dakota State University with a bachelors degree in graphic design, graduating in 2020. Ipswich earned a huge 50-20 Lake Region football conference win over Faulkton Area last Friday at the IHS sports complex. The Tigers slowly established control of the scrimmage line after an early stand-off on the scoreboard. The first quarter was an especially busy one.
