Everything is so seasonally related, especially when we are transitioning to autumn leaves instead of cotton balls from that very same tree. But with climate change apparently in progress, it's beginning to seem like we haven't been experiencing those traditional lengthy spring and fall seasons that we used to enjoy. The weather certainly seems more unpredictable, though, so things could always change, especially on a short-term basis. So merchants are attempting to do their seasonal end of the summer sales campaigns as usual, especially with t...

  • 100 years ago - Suffrage now national law

    Aug 26, 2020

Editor’s Note: From the Sept. 2, 1920 Edmunds County Democrat. Dodging the batteries of camera men as well as the various representatives of suffrage associations who might have claimed precedence in “sitting in” on the ceremonial of honor, Bainbridge Colby, secretary of state, signed the ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving suffrage to women. In carefully dodging the moving picture cameras and rival claimants for honors among organizations which have aided in accomplishing suffrage, Mr. Colby likewise avoided the possible inter...

  • I/EC gridders stop Potter County

    Aug 26, 2020

Ipswich/Edmunds Central outlasted Potter County 40-28 in a warm high school football opener for both schools last Friday in Ipswich. The two teams had traded blows for much of the game, but I-EC manufactured a disparately needed 80-yard insurance TD drive capped by Carson Gohl's seven-yard score after the Battlers had climbed to within a TD trailing 34-28 including a two-point conversion. And the hosts would end the visitors' hopes of a last minute miracle with an interception. Ipswich/EC had...
