    The Whitestone Hill Healing Ride riders will be stopping in Ipswich on Thursday, Aug. 31. The riders are on their way to Whitestone Hill State Historic Site, located 23 miles southeast of Kulm, North Dakota. The Healing Ride commemorates the Sept. 3, 1863 battle when the U.S. Army led by Brigadier General Alfred Sully attacked a Native American encampment at Whitestone Hill.     The Richland Church will be kicking off their Wednesday Fall Family Night Ministries on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. There is something for the entire family: CLUBHOUSE for Children aged three through sixth grade, Youth group for students grades 7-12, as well as both a Women’s Study and a Men’s Study.     To the Editor: TO THE CITIZENS OF IPSWICH: Do you realize how some of your city tax dollars are being spent? Most recently, on several occasions, I personally observed that the city has been using tax payer resources to spray for mosquitoes at Golf View Acres and other private land between Golf View and the City. Golf View is in the county, not the city, and does not pay city taxes. Yet, City tax dollars (personnel, equipment and spray) are being used to spray for mosquitoes there.     Edmunds Central students started the 2023-24 school year on Monday, August 21. There are two new teachers this year and one that started in the middle of the year last year.     North Central participated in a YTC varsity volleyball tourney last Saturday in Gettysburg. The Thunder were defeated 2-0 by Herreid/Selby Area and also lost to Potter County in straight sets. But they defeated McIntosh 25-12, 25-19. Versus McIntosh they were 46-57 in attacking the net with 20 kills, led by Amree Vander Vorst at 13-15 with seven kills.     The North Central Thunder girls volleyball team opened its season with a 3-0 win over Potter County last Thursday in Roscoe. The set scores were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-14 respectively. The Thunder used a 84-104 hitting effort that featured 29 kills. They were led by Amree Vander Vorst at 23-25 with nine kills and Billy Jo Hoffman went 14-19 with six kills.     North Central sent runners to a cross country meet in Mobridge last Saturday. The varsity boys team featured Lemmon in first with 26 points and Faukton next at 29. The girls standings found Potter County in first at 20 and Lemmon second at 38.     Ipswich opened its high school volleyball season with a straight sets loss to Highmore-Harrold in Ipswich last Thursday. There were some bright spots for the Tigers, after falling behind 25-16 in their opener. But they would start the second set with five straight points before eventually falling behind 30-28.     The North Central JV football team got a homecoming win on Aug. 25 in Eureka. The Thunder stopped McLaughlin 50-8 to celebrate Edmunds Central’s homecoming week. Jade Jacobs had a big half for the Thunder. He had a seven yard run, adding the extra point, to begin the scoring, 8-0.     Ipswich attended a cross country invite in Mobridge last Saturday. They had one senior boy Xavier Kadlec who placed eighth in the varsity run clocked at 19:29.99.
