    Ipswich High School Homecoming Gala Week is September 9 through 13. The 2024 theme chosen by the Student Council is "Olympics." Coronation is Monday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the School Theatre. The Food Pantry will be in Ipswich Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Edmunds County 4-H Building. Proxy pickups are allowed. Herr got off a freight train at Ipswich Saturday night and came up town to get something to eat. Seeing a load of groceries in Frank Pemberton’s car, he drove away with the auto and parked it by the railroad tracks. He abandoned the car and loaded the groceries on the freight train.     The Ipswich Tigers opened their volleyball season with a 3-1 (25-17, 25-7, 23-25, 26-16) win at Highmore-Harrold on Aug. 27. The Tigers were 88-97 serving with 21 aces. Natalie Crissman led 14-15 with six aces and Josie Knutson was 16-18 with four aces. Ipswich hitting was 128-150 with 72 kills.     The NC Thunder volleyball team opened the season at Potter County in Gettysburg. The Battlers topped the Thunder 3-0 (14-25, 21-25, 22-25). NC was 105 of 119 for hitting with 25 kills. Amree Vander Vorst led 52 of 56 with 11 kills. North Central serving was 45 of 58 with four aces. Alaina Dosch was 12 of 15 with two aces. Sydney Bertsch was 101 of 104 in setting with 20 assists.
