Ipswich won a high school volleyball clash of the Tigers last Tuesday in Groton. The Tigers from Groton were defeated 3-1 on their home court. Ipswich had captured a relatively easy 25-15 win of its first set, but guess what, the hosts edged Ipswich 26-24 in the second set to even the match at 1-1. Ipswich then traveled to Waubay last Thursday to play Waubay/Summit and came away with a straight-sets volleyball victory to improve its record to 4-0. Ipswich attended a high school XC invite last Thursday in Redfield. The Tigers put two runners in the girls varsity race won by Milbank’s Ashlyn Batchelor in 16.21. Emily DeRaad placed 23rd in 18.86, followed by Ashley Ptacek 37th in 19.72. In the varsity boys’ outcome, Milbank’s Nick Batchelor came away the winner in 15.42.
