    This is homecoming week for Ipswich. This year’s theme is Olympics. Coronation was Monday evening. Chosen to reign as Queen and King were Jaydin Stiles and Maxwell Kulesa. 2023 King Chet Peterson was present to crown the new royalty. 2023 Queen Karlie Gohl could not be present.   • Construction planned at Mina bridge

    Construction work was scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, to build a diversion adjacent to U.S. Highway 12 east of Mina over Snake Creek. The contractor will set up signs, strip topsoil, and build the diversion adjacent to the roadway in preparation for a bridge replacement project in 2025. The construction of the diversion will involve trucking material to the site. Traffic will be controlled with signs. The prime contractor on the $10.4 million project is Robert Schroeder Construction, Inc. of Glenwood, MN. The expected completion...

    Ipswich and North Central Cross Country teams competed in the Redfield Pheasants Cross Country Meet on Sept. 5 at Fisher Grove State Park.     The Edmunds County 4-H Shotgun Shooting Sport program had a busy summer shooting to qualify for the state shoot. Shooters spent Wednesday nights at the Ipswich Shooting Range practicing their shotgun skills. The state shoot was held in Mitchell on September 6-8.     The North Central volleyball team played two matches last week versus Faulkton and South Border, N.D. The NC Thunder volleyball team hosted Faulkton in Roscoe on Sept. 5. The match gave the Trojans the win, 3-2. Faulkton got the first win 23-25, but then the Thunder took over, winning 25-22 and 25-21. Then the Trojans won the next match 20-25.     The Tiger volleyball team was 1-1 in action last week. IHS was on the road to play Groton Sept. 3, going down 3-0 (13-25, 22-25, 19-25). The IHS netters stopped Waubay/Summit 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-15). Against W/S the Tigers had 30 setting assists. The Tigers landed 94.7% of their serves.     The North Central football squad traveled to Timber Lake on Friday, Sept. 6. The Panthers were the winners 20-6. Timber Lake scored twice in the first quarter. A 58-yard pass from Cole Ducheneaux added six points. A 45-yard pass to Nolden Gill from Kanton Hunt was the next score. Hunt ran for the two-point conversion.
