    It’s so busy this time of the year that two of my personal favorite annual events turned out to be the same weekend — the S.D. Film Festival and the Celtic Faire on the beautiful shores of Richmond Lake. (The film festival is in Aberdeen.)     Last week I mentioned that by the end of September the chance for frost and an actual killing frost becomes a very big possibility. In looking through my records I did find that most killing frosts occur in October but they do happen at times in September. I asked the people at the Aberdeen Weather Service what constitutes a killing frost and they said that any temperature that drops to 28 degrees and stays there a number of hours is considered a killing frost.     Ipswich had a busy day hosting its cross country invitational last Saturday at Split Rock. The Tiger boys were able to finish second only to Miller 10 to 17 as a team. And the Tiger girls only entered two varsity runners that day, but Madisyn Gellhaus was third in 19:41.79 and Gracyn Kadlec fourth in 19:49.88.     Ipswich blanked Northwestern Area 48-0 in Lake Region Conference high school football action last Friday to cap Gala Day festivities.     Ipswich won two high school volleyball individual matches last week, which was indeed homecoming week. The Tigers started their busy week with a homecourt 3-1 victory over Sully Buttes last Tuesday. Their initial set resulted in a hard-fought 26-24 defeat. But after that there was no stopping the IHS girls. They won their second set 25-18 to even the match and then tacked on 25-16 and 25-20 wins to seal the deal.     Ipswich placed third in a high school volleyball invitational tourney at Mobridge last Saturday. The IHS Tigers won their opener over Stanley County, but lost a semi-final decision to the hosts. That sent the IHS netters into the third-place match won by Ipswich 2-1 over Herreid/Selby Area. Their first match win over Stanley County was a straight-sets 25-18, 25-15 affair.
