    Ipswich High School's homecoming celebration for 2019 is this week. The theme is "Rock of Ages." You still have time to register your parade entry. Contact Shana Gohl at the school, 426-6571. The parade begins at 1 p.m. on Friday. The parade route will remain the same as last year. The parade entries will line up on First Avenue by Holy Cross Church.   • Highway 12 construction west of Ipswich

    The South Dakota Department of Transportation began asphalt concrete work on Highway 12 from Roscoe to Ipswich on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The work includes signage, milling and asphalt concrete paving. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled with flaggers and pilot car. This work is part of a nearly $4.5 million contract with Anderson Western, Inc. to do repair work on Highway 12 in the Aberdeen region.   • Cloverbuds Open House Sunday for young 4-Hers

    There will be a Cloverbuds 4-H Club Open House on Sunday, September 29 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich starting at 5 p.m. The Open House will begin with a business meeting with the parents followed by a furnished meal. This is an informational meeting to help parents decide if Cloverbuds is for their child. Cloverbuds is open to youth ages 5-7 as of January 1, 2020.   • Tour of Homes raises funds for scholarship

    The local P.E.O. chapter will be hosting a “Tour Of Homes” on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. There are three homes to tour and refreshments will be served at UCC Fellowship Hall during the tour hours. All proceeds will be used to support the annual scholarship given to a local high school senior girl who will be furthering her education after high school. County Treasurer Nehl has 2000 of them stacked up in his office waiting distribution. Gilbert Jones was the first person in Edmunds County to resister his car, therefore he received number 23-1000.     The Ipswich Lions Club recently provided vision screening for 496 local school children using the South Dakota Lions Foundation Vision Van. Children from pre-school through high school from Ipswich, Edmunds Central, Faulkton, and Leola had their vision checked courtesy of Ipswich Lions club members. Children from area Hutterite Colonies in their respective communities were also screened by Ipswich Lions Club members. The Lady Tigers indeed won all four of their matches, capped by a 25-23, 25-20 defeat of Langford Area in the title match.     Ipswich/Edmunds Central dropped a home field Lake Region Conference high school football decision by a 42-8 margin last Friday in Ipswich. The Tigers were finally able to get on the score board in the fourth quarter, thanks to a final quarter 18-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Gilbert to Ty Kadlec.     Ipswich bumped heads with a couple of traditional LRC powerhouse teams in high school volleyball action earlier last week, prepping for its own invitational tourney on Saturday. The Lady Tigers indeed traveled to Warner on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and lost that league match by a 3-1 verdict.
