Ipswich School Homecoming festivities are planned for October 2-6, 2023. The theme is Traveling with the Tigers. Coronation will be Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the School Theatre. Despite the rainy weather, walkers came from across the country for the Prairie Wanderers Volkssport Club event in Ipswich on Friday, Sept. 22. There were 27 walkers signed in for the Ipswich 5K (3.1 miles). There were two routes around town, starting at the picnic shelter in Charles Collier Memorial Park. There will be a Cloverbuds 4-H Club Open House on Sunday, October 1 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich starting at 4 p.m. Leader Sarah Perrion will meet with the parents to come up with a monthly date and time to hold meetings. The Ipswich Lions Club recently provided vision screening for over 630 local school children using the South Dakota Lions Foundation Vision Van. The area runners attended a cross country invite hosted by Faulkton on September 20. North Central's boys placed fourth among 13 eligible varsity teams. This was individually won by Miller's Pierce Baumberger in 17:02.18 followed closely by his teammate Alex Schumacher at 17:11.06. They dropped their initial match 25-16, but came back with three straight victories --25-23, 25-17 and 25-16. Ipswich lost a league varsity volleyball encounter last Thursday in Langford. The hosts would win 25-22, 25-15 and 25-20. Saturday's rain-soaked Lake Region Conference high school football game on Saturday in Aberdeen with Ipswich vs. Leola/Frederick provided all the drama that you would come to expect in that league.
