Four individuals were welcomed into the South Dakota 4-H Volunteer Hall of Fame, as well as three more into the 4-H Shooting Sports Volunteer Hall of Fame this month during the 2021 South Dakota State Fair in Huron. There will be a Cloverbuds 4-H Club Open House on Sunday, October 3 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich starting at 3 p.m. Leaders Lacey Galbraith and Courtney Davis will meet with the parents to come up with a monthly date and time to hold meetings. The Ipswich Lions' Club recently provided vision screening for over 500 local school children using the South Dakota Lions Foundation Vision Van. Children from pre-school through high school from Ipswich, Edmunds Central and Faulkton had their vision checked courtesy of Ipswich Lions club members. FEM Electric and Northern Electric were hosts of this year's S.D. Rural Electric Assn. Annual Charity Ride on Sept. 11. A host of vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, pickups and even a trolley, drove in the ride to raise funds. The money raised helps coop families in need. The funeral service for Emma Martel, 102, of Hosmer, was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Gramm Funeral Home in Ipswich. Burial was at Bethany Cemetery in Hosmer. Emma was born January 21, 1919 to Adam and Pauline (Lehr) Gramm near Hosmer. She was raised on the family farm and was baptized at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ipswich dropped a 3-1 high school varsity non-conference girls' volleyball outing last Tuesday vs. Potter County in Gettysburg. The Tigers actually won their first set 25-18. But the hosts quickly regrouped for three straight wins —25-16, 25-21 and 25-19. The Ipswich cross country contingent attended a cross country event in Faulkton on September 22 more or less entered by the Ipswich runners as a JV event. But Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock won the girls' varsity individually in 19:12. And Potter County won the varsity girls' team title over Aberdeen Roncalli.
