The Richland Church is hosting a Fall Festival for all children on Wednesday, October 16 from 7-8 p.m. All area children are invited to come and enjoy an outdoor carnival in the church parking lot. There will be a number of game booths, including a football toss, cake walk, bean bag toss, hole-in-one, hulahoop throw, face painting, and more. October, I can't believe it. Yes, it's the start of the holiday seasons especially if you wish to think of Halloween as a holiday of sorts. And the stores certainly do! We will also be ushering in pheasant hunters, which has become a holiday season in and of itself. HIGH SCHOOL Paige Mehlberg is the Subway Student Athlete of the Week. Paige had an outstanding week both defensively and offensively. Last weekend defensively Paige tallied nine solo blocks and seven assisted blocks. She has been an integral part of the recent success of the volleyball team. The Cloverbud Open House was held on Sunday, September 29 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. The meeting started with members playing games. Following this a pizza supper was enjoyed by all. After supper the members made Halloween crafts led by Jailey Hutson, Karlie Gohl, and Ava Davis. Clarence "Joe" August Job passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Bend, Oregon. He was born March 12, 1930 in Ipswich where he lived on the family farm with 14 brothers and sisters. Joe left the family farm to pursue his dream of becoming a journeyman lineman out west. In 1949 he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) as an apprentice; where he quickly completed his training to become a journeyman lineman. The Annual Powell Church Service in Ipswich Pioneer Village was held on Sunday, September 15. The service was attended by former Powell Church members and friends. Memories of Powell was recollected by Leann Fredrickson of Aberdeen and Bob Wagner of Ipswich. Bob Pond read a letter from Sally Freeman Ortez, a former Pastor's daughter. Ipswich split a pair of high school volleyball appearances last week, both on the road. The Lady Tigers swept a non-conference 3-0 verdict over Potter County in Hoven last Tuesday, but dropped a Lake Region Conference decision 3-0 at Langford Area two nights later.
