    This is homecoming week for Ipswich. This year's theme is "Traveling with the Tigers." Coronation will be Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the School Theatre. Royalty candidates are seniors Hannah Beyers, Karlie Gohl, Evelyn Tran, Hailey Usselman, Trevor Heinz, Xavier Kadlec, Chet Peterson and Kadyn Weisser.     The Ipsodak National Honor Society had an induction ceremony on Sept. 28 in the School Theatre. New members are Reaghan Bowers, Shaylee Coisman, Ashlinn Hartwell, Tucker Kadlec, Kathryn Kilber, Sawyer Kirkham and Maxwell Kulesa. Members are selected based on the four pillars of NHS - scholarship, character, leadership, and service.   • IHS marching band earns honors at marching festival

    The Ipswich Tigers Marching Band performed in the Aberdeen Roncalli Marching Festival on Sept. 27 in Aberdeen. The Ipswich band was named the third place group. They were also named the Best Percussion section. Aberdeen Roncalli Marching Cavaliers was the winner of the Festival, followed by Gregory, second; Hoven, fourth; and Warner, fifth.   • Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Pantry coming soon

    The Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Pantry will return to Edmunds County soon. The Food Pantry will be in Ipswich Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Edmunds County 4-H Building. The Food Pantry will be in Bowdle on Friday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Proxy pickups are allowed.     The Edmunds County 4-H Shotgun Shooting Sport program had a busy summer shooting to qualify for the state shoot. Shooters spent Wednesday nights at the Ipswich Shooting Range practicing their shotgun skills. The state shoot was held in Mitchell on September 8-10. Five shooters from Edmunds County qualified for the state shoot. They were Junior Weston Weisser, and Seniors Gabe Johnson, Adam Kanable, Kadyn Weisser, and Emerald Wittmeier.     Ipswich and North Central both attended a cross country meet in Miler on September 25. The NC varsity boys and girls each placed fifth in their respective team standings. The NC girls were led by Grace Roth 19th in 23:16.85 and then Melanie Dallenbach was 22nd in 23:39.52. Their third scorer was Kassandra Abbas 29th in 24:43.78 and they totaled 56 team points.
