I read somewhere that the National Weather Service doesn't issue any more frost advisories or warnings during this growing season after a major frost or two is in the books. And I wouldn't be too surprised if that would now be true. But you can still read the daily and nightly forecasts and determine for yourself if the f-word (frost) is mentioned. And if you don't really care one way or the other, that's OK too. I've been checking one late blooming cucumber plant that has one cucumber which could possibly continue to grow into a slicing size...

Ipswich had a busy cross country schedule last week. One highlight was that the varsity girls placed second in their respective team standings in Miller last Monday and then again at Highmore-Harrold on Saturday. The latter meet was won by the Kimball/ White Lake girls with their 15 team points and the Tigers next with 28. Thirteen teams were eligible for those team score standings. Earlier in the week in Miller, Ipswich had scored 23 girls' team points, second only to Aberdeen Christian with 13. Five teams could vie for contention in that even...
They found a last-minute opponent to replace Faulkton for the Ipswich and Edmunds Central homecoming football game last Friday in Ipswich. It turned out to be Watertown-based Great Plains Lutheran, who would be seeking their initial victory of the season. But the Panthers went away empty-handed once again as the Tiger D pitched its second shut out (44-0) and improved to 5-1. GPL fumbled their kick return to start out the night and Trevor Beyers grabbed the football at the enemy 27. Six plays lat...
Ipswich improved its girls' high school volleyball record to 15-2 last week, going into a huge homecourt match vs. LRC and Region 2B rival Faulkton Area that had been scheduled for earlier this week. (Those results weren't available as of our newspaper publication deadline.) "It is too early to worry about the (2B) bracket too much (but don't think we don't keep our eye on it)," says IHS coach Trent Osborne. "We need to keep putting W's on the board and then let the chips fall where they may at...
