    The Ipswich Fifth Grade class recently finished a lesson on Robotics. Lego EV3 kits were received from the Sioux Falls Regional Extension Office for use in Carol Lacher and Brandi Schlosser's classrooms. Assisting in the teaching was Bonnie Nehlich, 4-H Youth Program Advisor. The students were paired up and assembled the Cowbot robot.   • Richland Church Fall Festival

    The Richland Church is hosting a Fall Festival for all children on Wednesday, October 17 from 7 to 8 p.m. All area children are invited to come and enjoy an outdoor carnival in the church parking lot. There will be a number of game booths, including a football toss, cake walk, bean bag toss, hole-in-one, hulahoop throw, face painting, and more.     The Edmunds County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will hold their quarterly meeting on Thursday, October 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bowdle Fire Hall. A full-scale exercise for 2019 will be discussed. A CERT meeting and a Citizen’s Corp. Council meeting will be conducted during the LEPC meeting.     Ipswich won the Lady Tigers volleyball rivalry on Monday in the IHS Tiger Den with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers. Ipswich faced an early 6-1 deficit in set one, but eventually won it 25-18. The hosts knotted it at 7-7 and took their first lead, 8-7, with a block.     The Ipswich Lady Tiger volleyball team finished third at the Battler Tournament, an invitational tourney in Gettysburg last Saturday. Ipswich finished 3-1 in the event with its lone loss being to Faulkton, which went on to win the entire tourney over runner-up Faith. Ipswich indeed lost its opening pool match to the Trojans 25-17 and 25-16.     Led by Aleah Steger's course-record-setting clocking at the Lake Region Conference cross country meet at Split Rock Country Club in Ipswich last Wednesday, the IHS Lady Tigers cruised to a 10-point 9 to 19 team win over their nearest competitor Aberdeen Christian in less than optimal weather conditions.
