    Over 1,000 of South Dakota's best high school vocal and instrumental musicians will gather in Rapid City for the 66th Annual South Dakota All-State Chorus and Orchestra on Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27. Ipswich students who have been preparing for the chorus are Kari Kanable, Jayna Sanborn, Nathan Kamps, Gavin Wollman and alternate Jacob Bakken.   • Halloween fun begins Sunday

    Halloween fun and games will begin on October 28 and continue throughout the week. The annual Children’s Halloween Festival is planned on Sunday, Oct. 28 in the Edmunds Central Auxiliary Gym in Roscoe. The festival is free and open to all ages from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be a parade of costumes and lots of fun games. There will be a bake sale with proceeds going to the Sanford Project.   • 4-H Club plans Christmas at the Courthouse

    The Wily Wizards 4-H Club will again be sponsoring Christmas at the Courthouse. Trees will be on display from December 8-28. The lighting ceremony will be held on Friday, December 7 in conjunction with Ipswich's Hometown Holiday Weekend.     Florence Gramm, 93, Bowdle, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Bowdle Hospital. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowdle, with Pastor Alois Vogl and Deacon Laurel Vogl leading the service. Interment followed at the Bowdle City Cemetery. Florence Thelma Schuh, daughter of Matilda (Schmidt) and Jacob Schuh, was born at Isabel on August 15, 1925.     Farm Rescue volunteers are pictured harvesting corn south of Ipswich. They were assisting the Mike Williams family with fall work after Mike was injured in an accident earlier this year. He is recuperating in Colorado. A benefit is planned on November 30 at Father Bormann Hall beginning at 5 p.m. The plans include a pork loin supper, a silent auction and live auction.
