Ipswich residents are gearing up for a community blood drive to help prevent possible blood shortages in the coming weeks. The Ipswich Lions Club will host a blood drive with Vitalant on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 in Fr. Bormann Hall...
Some have called today (Nov. 3) a historical day. But in South Dakota, November 2 is an important day. That day is the anniversary of the day when the two Dakotas became states — Nov. 2, 1889. They would become the 39th and 40th states for sure, but in which order? That’s a good question. Alphabetically you’d think that N comes before S, so that’s how it was ultimately determined? Not so. Actually what happened was that President Benjamin Harrison signed the statehood papers and what he did was to shuffle the papers, so no one (except him?) w...

You just knew that Ipswich/Edmunds Central and Warner would battle down to the wire in a Class 9A second-round high school football play-off game in Warner last Thursday. And they would do exactly as predicted with Warner escaping with a 20-14 win! In a game of this magnitude turnovers often play a role in the eventual outcome and that was true in that game. And there were some impressive fourth-down defensive stands by both teams. As well as some costly penalties at inopportune times! For...
It’s that time of year — girls post-season volleyball time! And when the Region 2B girls’ high school volleyball seeding points were counted (and more than likely recounted) Ipswich narrowly trailed top-seeded Faulkton Area as the overall second seed, placing the Lady Tigers in the hunt for one of the two Region 2B bracket championships. The Lady Tigers were scheduled to host seventh-seeded Sully Buttes on Tuesday evening with those results not known by our newspaper deadline. (Faulkton was all set to host the eight-vs-nine Monday play-...
