    The 2020 Ipswich Snow Queen will be crowned on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the School Theatre. The theme is "Once Upon a Time." The Festival is sponsored by the Ipswich Commercial Club.     HIGH SCHOOL Ethan Gilbert is the Subway Student Athlete of the Week. Senior quarterback Ethan Gilbert had 266 yards passing and two TD’s in the Tigers first round playoff game vs. Britton-Hecla.     The Glacial Lakes Energy ethanol plant at Mina was the site of a domestic terrorism on October 24, 2019. Actually the event was an emergency training event. The Edmunds County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) coordinated with the South Dakota National Guard 82nd Civil Support Team (CST) to conduct the domestic terrorism training event.     Cindy Renee Swinson (63) passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her loving family, after an extended battle with cancer. Cindy was born Aug. 4, 1956 to Harold and VerNiece (Treichel) Haux in Ipswich. She attended and graduated from Leola High School in 1974.     Forty-three Ipswich middle school students participated in the 10th annual Northwestern Middle School Music Festival on Oct. 15, 2019 in the Northwestern High Scool. The Festival included a concert band of 70 middle school musicians and a 180-member mixed chorus. The band and choir members represented 13 area schools.
