It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Edmunds County Courthouse with a record number of trees on display. Join them for the lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6. The Wily Wizards 4-H Club, who sponsor this annual event, will provide Holiday treats for you to enjoy as you view the three floors of trees at your leisure. Again this year, you can vote for your favorite tree by placing a quarter in the jar next to the tree. Proceeds will be used to deflect the cost of hosting this event. The Maxwell Geditz family benefit will be Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019 in the Ipswich School. Jayna Raigh Sanborn was born on November 18, 2001. Two and a half years later, Kylee Lynn Sanborn was born on May 12, 2004. From the very beginning, they were inseparable and were always lovingly called "The Girls" by everyone who knew them, especially by their parents, Ryan and Sarah Sanborn. Beatrice (Weninger) Griffith, 94, of Sheridan, Oregon, passed away on Oct.ober 4, 2019. She was the youngest, the 11th child of George and Margaret (Schumacher) Weninger was born on Sept. 19, 1925 in Ipswich. 'Bea', as she was known, attended Ipswich schools. In 1941 she moved to Portland, Ore. to be with siblings. She met and married Harvey Moore. They had three children, Connie, Terry and Tim. Harvey passed away on Nov. 29, 1970. The Edmunds County 4-H Recognition Event was held Sunday, November 24 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. The evening started with a potluck supper followed by the awards ceremony. by Sandra Frickson Ipswich, Leola and Bowdle wrestlers began the season with practice on November 18. The three schools combine to create the Ipswich Area Wrestling program. They will begin their season on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Ft. Pierre. Coach Todd Naasz returns 10 letter winners and one state place winner. Although the team returns a good number of wrestlers from last season, they continue to be a very young team, with only three of them being sophomores or older.
