    The series of meetings to discuss the plans to build a law enforcement center next to the Edmunds County Courthouse in Ipswich began last week. Commissioner Chad Preszler opened the meetings in Ipswich and Roscoe on Nov. 27 and 28. He said Sheriff Jonathan Waldner has had challenges in the office since the jail closed in November 2022. The County Commission has been discussing building a new jail, but they wanted public input. Sheriff Waldner said they have to move inmates to other counties and one of the county deputies have to make the trip...

  • Tree of Kindness seeks to help Humane Societies

    This year the “Tree of Kindness” is for our furry friends. The tree is located on the first floor of the courthouse and is decorated for the dogs and cats. If you would like to help, pick a scroll from the tree (or a list from under the tree) and purchase items for the Aberdeen Area Humane Society or the Wamakaskan Onsica Humane Society (located at Pets N Stuff in Mobridge).     The Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Pantry will return to Edmunds County soon. The Food Pantry will be in Ipswich Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Edmunds County 4-H Building. The Food Pantry will be in Bowdle on Friday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Proxy pickups are allowed.
