    Local churches will celebrate the Christmas season next week. Schedules for local churches include: Holy Cross, Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Churches: St. Thomas the Apostle in Roscoe will have a Christmas Eve Mass at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24.     Ipswich made a Saturday trip to Webster quite worthwhile by capturing both ends of a girls/boys non-conference basketball doubleheader. The Tiger girls got back on the win track with a hard-earned 46-37 victory and the boys picked up their third straight win of the young season with a convincing 61-34 outcome. In the girls' game, Halle Heinz scored 24 points to lead all scorers and she included a quartet of treys. Next was Abby Grabowska with 10 points.   • Wrestlers compete in Plankinton

    Ipswich/Leola/Bowdle (ILB) competed in a Plankinton wrestling invite on Saturday, Dec. 15. The Tigers faced some difficult opposition to say the least. The Tigers were able to get a six-place placement from Tanner Frickson, who scored nine of the team's 12 team points, at 120. Zach Geditz, competing at 170 was able to obtain ILB's remaining three team points. The tourney was won by Burke/Gregory with 201 points, edging Redfield Area's 185. Altogether there were 17 teams in the event, with the Tigers finishing in 17th. The team will now be idle...

  • IHS Boys open season with wins

    Ipswich opened its 2018-19 boys' high school basketball campaign with a pair of Lake Region Conference victories, one on the road and then one at home. The Tigers indeed topped Eureka-Bowdle 72-31 in Bowdle last Tuesday and returned home to conquer the Langford Lions 60-32 two nights later.   • Lady Tigers split LRC road games

    Ipswich split a pair of Lake Region Conference girls' prep basketball games last week, playing without the services of Kamryn Heinz, still out with a injury. Ipswich came away with a 37-19 LRC victory in its season opener at Bowdle last Tuesday evening. The Lady Tigers indeed prevailed over Eureka-Bowdle in somewhat of a defensive battle.
