    Was the winter solstice on December 21 this year? It seems like I had heard that somewhere. That did seem a little early, but maybe not. At any rate it might be quite a long time until we begin to actually experience the effects of the longest day of the year. Somewhere I also heard that there was less than a minute more daylight right away, so you indeed shouldn't notice that for awhile.
