May Weather The average rainfall for Ipswich for the month of May is now 2.61. Out of 47 years, there were 21 years that exceeded this average and 26 years that were less. Ten of the years that were less than average were under an inch of rain which isn’t much for the start of a growing season. The least for these 10 years was .52 during May, 2009. Now we come to the 21 Mays in which rainfall was more than average. We’ll deal with some of the most extreme May rain events. All of these had an affect on farmer’s planting schedule. 1991: Extre...

From the Ipswich Tribune September 20, 1928 edition CURIOS ARE PLACED IN PILLAR OF ARCH It is doubtful if any one building fireplace or monument has as many countries or states represented as has the arch now being constructed over the Yellowstone Trail at Ipswich. Nearly all the states are represented and many foreign countries. Ernest Beebe picked a boulder out of a glacier in Alaska when there this summer and has put it in a permanent place where it may be seen when Ipswich is hoary with age. Loren Parmley now in Hawaii sent his father a sto...

Comments on March weather from 47 years: March is definitely the transition month from winter to spring. The percent for zero or below temp. readings for March drops off to 10% from a high of 44% in January and 37% for February. One of the main reasons for some months of March being cool to others being mild is snowpack. This definitely shows up in my records. 2018: Cool March – Average high temp. 34° and low 20° – 28 days in the 20s and low 30s as the high temp. – Snowpack on the ground the entire month which averaged 15 inches startin...
Comments on March weather from 47 years: In looking thru my weather records of March I found that I made this comment about 18 of the 47 months of March. (Normal temps. for March) which meant around 41° for average high and 20° for average low.) For moisture I found that only 20 of the 47 months of March exceeded the average for precip. which is 1.12. This means that 27 months were short of the average of 1.12 and that some of the 20 months that did exceed, were fairly high amounts to bring the average up to 1.12. These are some months of M...
