Fifty-four riders participated in the Roscoe Bike-A-Thon on July 17. In two hours the riders drove 707 miles in three routes. The Bike-A-Thon was a fundraiser for the summer youth program. Corbin Beyers collected the most pledges - $719.38. Several 4-H members attended the baking workshop on July 17. The workshop was led by Bonnie Nehlich, 4-H Educator and assisted by Morgan Weisser. The bakers learned the proper way to measure liquid and solid ingredients. They also learned how they would need to display them when entering them at Achievement Days or the State Fair. Several members attended the Sewing Workshop on July 10. The workshop was led by Bonnie Nehlich, Edmunds County 4-H Educator. Assisting her were Morgan Weisser, Katie Osterman, and Sarah Wesch. The morning group made potholders or a microwave bowl and the afternoon group made a table runner. The Open Horse Show and Fun Day is part of the 2024 Edmunds County Achievement Days. The activities will begin with registration starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Trail Days Arena on Sunday, August 4. Events will start at 4 p.m. Riders of all ages are encouraged to come and participate in the numerous fun events planned. Riders under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult in the arena. A benefit rollover auction in memory of Rainn J. Stadheim, daughter of Jeremy and Carrie Stadheim of Reeder, N.D., is scheduled for noon on Monday, July 22 at Faith Livestock Auction in Faith. Rainn, 12, of Reeder, tragically passed away at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, N.D. on June 2, 2024. The South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) announced that nearly 200 cities, counties, and tribes across South Dakota will collectively receive $500,000 in grants to combat mosquitoes and prevent the spread of West Nile Virus (WNV) in 2024. After being rescued from a farm yard and cleaned up the Loyalton School wood flag pole is up and flying Old Glory again. Hosmer residents went to the election polls on Tuesday, June 18 to elect two individuals for three-year terms on the Board of Trustees. Candidates Yvette Rutt and DeWayne Sowards received the most votes — 68 votes for Rutt and 59 votes for Sowards. Levi Sowards also ran for a post on the board.
