    The Ipswich Knights of Columbus distributed 20 new winter coats to Susie Treftz, Dept of Social Services and Child Protective Services. This includes Edmunds and McPherson counties. Sixteen new winter coats were also distributed to Leola. Since starting the Coats for Kids program, the Knights of Columbus have distributed over 1,000,000 winter coats worldwide. This is the second consecutive participating year for the Ipswich council in this Coats for Kids program....

    The Roscoe Community Club is hosting our annual Lighted Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 15, beginning at 5:30 pm. The parade route will begin at the city park and will wind through town on the north and south sides of Hwy. 12, finishing at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. This parade is for the whole family and can easily be viewed from your vehicles.   • 4-H Club plans activities for youth

    The Wily Wizards 4H Club is hosting a movie and game day at the 4H Building on Dec. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. for youth ages 4-12. They will have two holiday movies for the youth to watch as well as games, puzzles and other activities.     Richland Church will have a Children's Christmas Program on Sunday, December 15 at 7 p.m. The preschool/kindergarten will start the night with a song and recitation. Then, the elementary children will perform the program, "The Light of Life". This presents the Christmas story as written in scripture and the songs they sing will also point us to the importance of the baby born that Bethlehem night.     The trial for Jeromy Loken of Ipswich was held in the McPherson County Courthouse in Leola beginning on Nov. 18, 2024. He was found guilty on Nov. 20 of sexual exploitation of a minor by a person in a position of authority and sexual contact with a minor. He was acquitted of the rape charge.     Looking back at Ipswich High School sports since 2000, Marv Seyer has written a new book. He wrote “100 Years of Ipswich High School Sports” in 2000. He has written an update to that book, “The Prosperous Years 2000-2024.” Seyer called these the prosperous years because of the IHS athletic accomplishments since 2000, including 42 state trophies and plaques (16 championships). “I feel the achievements of this group of students have to be recognized,” Seyer said.
