    The Ipswich fourth and fifth band was selected to perform at the S.D. Bandmasters Conference Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. They will perform at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the campus of SDSU. Bandmasters is an annual continuing education conference for South Dakota Band Directors. “The students have been working hard and are excited to perform at SDSU,” said director Becky Nierman.     Six schools performed in the 2024 Region 7B One-Act Play Contest in the Ipswich High School Theatre on January 17. Schools participating were Faulkton, Selby, Timber Lake, Edmunds Central, Lemmon and Warner. Three judges watched the performances. Judge critiques followed each play. At the end of the day the superior performances were announced for each school. It was then announced that the top two performances were given by Edmunds Central and Timber Lake.   • Recent Hosmer Blood Drive brings 25 volunteers

    The Hosmer community hosted a blood drive with Vitalant on January 8 at the Hosmer Fire Hall which helped collect a total of 37 units of blood products for patients in need. A total of 25 individuals volunteered to donate blood, including three new donors. The need for blood is constant and Vitalant strives to always keep a five-day supply of every blood type on the shelf to be able to meet the needs of patients across the region. Volunteers gathered to move out the old grill and are making the needed preparations for the new equipment.     The Roscoe American Legion hosted a Puzzle Contest on Saturday, Dec. 30. The evening started with a soup supper. The teams had an hour to finish the 500-piece puzzle.
