    The Hosmer Volunteer Fire and Rescue hosted a successful Poker Run and Burger Fry on Saturday, July 29. They had 182 entries this year. Adjustments were made, thanks to all the players for their patience. Poker Run winners were Gary Blocker, first with a 3-Q/2-J Full House; Carol Eisenbeisz, second with a Full House (3-9's/2-7's); and John Meuwissen, third with a Full House (3-8's/2-J's).     Roscoe American Legion and Auxiliary members went to Warner on July 25 to tour DTOM 22/0 Veterans Ranch. DTOM stands for "Don't Tread on Me." The 22 stands for the recognized average of 22 Veterans per day dying from suicide. The 0 represents their goal. The mission of the DTOM 22/0 Foundation and Veterans Ranch is to provide a safe place for healing and recovery for military service members, veterans, and their families activities, while helping them learn to live again with purpose.     The Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Pantry will return to Edmunds County soon. The Food Pantry will be in Ipswich Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Edmunds County 4-H Building. The Food Pantry will be in Bowdle on Friday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Proxy pickups are allowed.     The Roscoe community hosted a blood drive with Vitalant on July 13 at the American Legion which helped collect a total of 39 units of blood products for patients in need. A total of 32 individuals volunteered to donate blood and 29 individuals were able to successfully donate at the Vitalant blood drive on July 13. A total of 10 donors also came forward to donate Power Red Cells (2RBC) which collects two units of red blood cells while returning platelets, plasma and a saline solution back to the donor.     Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church celebrated the Ipswich church's centennial on Sunday, July 16. The service was held in Zion's worship home in the Schriver Funeral Home.     The 2023 Edmunds County 4-H Achievement Days will kick off on Wednesday, August 2 with the Dog Show. The dog show will start at 8 a.m. at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. On July 12 the children took the chain outside and stretched it out from the sidewalk corner all the way down the sidewalk to the light pole. The kids then walked around the library with the chain.     The Edmunds County Sheriff has been asking for donations after the County Commission agreed to allow a Police Service Dog Program. Tess, a two-year old Belgian Malinois, is now part of the Edmunds County Sheriff's Department. Tess stays with County Deputy Pete Eng. He has 20 years experience with K9 service. Tess has training in Drug Detection and Tracking. She will begin State certification in September. Sheriff Jonathan Waldner said Tess would be another tool for the Sheriff's Department....
