    The North Central girls were 1-1 last week in basketball game. The Thunder girls hosted Sully Buttes on Dec. 13. The NC girls got a slow start against the Chargers 20-8 and then 33-19 at halftime. The Thunder girls then scored 11 in the third (30-49) and nearly caught Sully Buttes at the final buzzer 53-50.     The Ipswich basketball teams had a split decision when they met the Hitchcock-Tulare teams in a Dec. 14 doubleheader in Ipswich. Both games seemed too close at half-time but that was when the paths changed. The IHS girls were ahead 12-10 at halftime. But then the Patriots took charge. They won the contest 39-25.     Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers competed at the Stanley County Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Ft. Pierre. Justin Rohrbach won the championship in the 190 division.     The North Central girls basketball team easily stopped Strasburg/Zeeland 41-14 at home on Friday, Dec. 6. The Thunder girls scored 23 points in the first quarter. S/Z only one point. The half-time score was 37-5. The NC girls scored two points in each of the third and fourth quarters, allowing the S/Z girls to add nine points in the third quarter.   • Book dedication

    Marv Seyer presented a copy of his book "The Prosperous Years of Ipswich High School Sports" to Lorie Heinz. The book is dedicated to Lorie's daughter Angela, who was an IHS student athlete who passed away. A copy of the book can be viewed at the Tribune office or Ipswich State Bank.     On Sunday, November 10, senior Gabe Johnson ran in the Nike Heartland Regional Championship Cross Country Meet at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls.     North Central faced Faulkton Area in the quarterfinals of the Region 6B volleyball tournament on Nov. 5 in Faulkton. Faulkton won the match 3-1 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14.     In the football battle of the Tigers on Halloween, the Howard Tigers were the most powerful. The Howard Tigers stopped the Ipswich Tigers 54-0 in Howard in the Class 9A State Quarterfinal.
